Gwyneth joined the PwCDebtSolutions™ group in 2005 upon retiring from a career with the Government of P.E.I. During her career with the Government, Gwyneth was the Clerk of the Court and Manager of the Orderly Payment of Debts Program for P.E.I. In addition, Gwyneth was also a Consumer Counsellor with the Office of the Attorney General for P.E.I. As part of the PwCDebtSolutions™ group team, Gwyneth provides individuals counselling and information sessions for clients seeking debt reduction solutions.

Gwyneth received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Prince Edward Island. She attended the University of Arizona Winter School, and completed the Conflict and Mediation Phase 1, at the University of Prince Edward Island. Gwyneth completed the Insolvency Counsellors Qualification Course in 1996 and the Administrator of Consumer Proposals Training Course in 1999.

BACKGROUND
Walter MacKinnon is a Chartered Insolvency Restructuring Professional, and has been a Vice President of PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. since October,2007. Prior to October,2007, he was President of J. Walter MacKinnon Limited, which he started in January, 1997. Before starting his own business, Walter was a partner in the Charlottetown office of Coopers & Lybrand, and a Senior Vice President of Coopers & Lybrand Limited (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1974 with Clarkson Gordon, now Ernst & Young, in Toronto. He returned to PEI in 1975 as a chartered accountant, progressing to manager and then partner in 1985. In 1984 he became a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP) and, in 1985 he obtained his federal bankruptcy license.

SELECTED PROFESSIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
Primarily all of Mr. MacKinnon's time is spent on insolvency matters, being bankruptcies, receiverships, proposals, refinancing arrangements, and general credit inquiries.

  • Former member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
  • Current member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.
  • Founding Director and past President of Charlottetown Association for Residential Services - a non profit organization looking after the needs of mentally handicapped adults.
  • Former member and chairman of the United Way of PEI Budget Committee.
  • Current member of the Charlottetown Royalty Rotary Club.
  • Director responsible for the canteen operation of the 1989 Canadian Scout Jamboree and for the disposal sale of the 1989 and 2001 Canadian Scout Jamborees.
  • Served on the building committee of St. Francis of Assissi Church.
  • Served as treasurer on the finance committee of St. Francis of Assissi Church.
  • Serves as financial advisor on the Diocesan financial committee.
  • Served on the Trustee Oral Board in regard to the examination of the trustee candidates.
  • In 2008 was admitted as a fellow in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of PEI.

SEMINARS
Mr. MacKinnon was a part-time lecturer of the auditing course to the fourth year students of the University of Prince Edward Island. As well, he frequently makes insolvency presentations to interested groups and associations.

Helena Ryan joined the firm of R. D. Manning & Co. (which subsequently merged with Coopers & Lybrand) in February, 1978 in a secretarial capacity. In 1984, she became the secretary for Walter MacKinnon in the insolvency practice at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc.) and received her Certificate of Completion as an insolvency administrator in May, 1991. She continued her work with insolvency matters until 1997, when Walter left Coopers & Lybrand to start his own insolvency business, and she retired.

In early 2005, Helena joined Walter on a part-time basis at his company, J. Walter MacKinnon Limited, which became part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers family in October, 2007. She continues to spend all of her working hours on insolvency matters and meeting with clients to assist them with their financial issues.

I started working for J. Walter MacKinnon Ltd. in September/2000, as a part-time administrative assistant. Previously, I worked on a full time basis for 26½ years with a financial institution as an administrative assistant for Area Managers, Branch Managers, etc.

In October/2007, our office became part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. I am still working on a part-time basis (job sharing) three days per week out of the Cornwall, PE office.
